Ang Wei Neng (born 31 March 1967) is a Singaporean politician and businessman. A member of the People's Action Party (PAP), he has been serving as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Nanyang division of West Coast Group Representation Constituency (GRC) since 2020. Prior to this, he represented the Jurong Central division of Jurong GRC from 2011 to 2020. Beyond his political career, Ang is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Strides Premier Pte Ltd, a joint venture between Strides Taxis Pte Ltd and Premier Taxis Pte Ltd.
Early Life and Education
Ang Wei Neng was born in Singapore on 31 March 1967. He attended Nanyang Primary School for his primary education, followed by The Chinese High School and Hwa Chong Junior College. He graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Economics. He furthered his education by obtaining a Master of Business Administration (Strategic Management) from Nanyang Technological University.

Professional Career
Ang began his career in the Singapore Police Force, serving from 1991 to 1997. He then transitioned to the private sector, holding positions at American International Group, BexCom, Hiap Moh Corporation, and Mcare Lab. In 2004, he joined SBS Transit, where he rose to the position of Senior Vice-President for omnibus operations in the East District of Singapore. In 2017, he was appointed CEO of the Taxi Business at ComfortDelGro. In 2022, he took on the role of CEO at Strides Premier Pte Ltd, overseeing the merged operations of Strides Taxis and Premier Taxis.
Political Career
Ang entered politics in the 2011 general election as part of the PAP team contesting in Jurong GRC. The team won, and he became the MP for the Jurong Central division. He was re-elected in 2015. In the 2020 general election, he contested in West Coast GRC and has since been serving as the MP for the Nanyang division. Within Parliament, Ang has been a member of the Estimates Committee since 2011 and became its chairman in 2020. He has also served on the Public Accounts Committee and the Government Parliamentary Committees for Transport and Education.
Achievements and Awards
As an MP, Ang has initiated various social programs to support vulnerable families, including the establishment of a free Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic and the Nanyang Sayang program, which offers free tuition and mentorship for children from lower-income families. He has laucnhed a program to plant 1,000 trees in the Nanyang community as a support for the Singapore Green Program 2030.
Past Controversies
In March 2022, during a parliamentary debate, Ang suggested the idea of placing a "time stamp" on university degrees, proposing that graduates attend upgrading courses every five years or so. This suggestion sparked criticism. Ang then apologized and clarified in his Facebook that his ideas were meant to be a policy recommendation.
