  • 2018 - On 21 March 2018, the new Public Order and Safety (Special Powers) Act 2018, replacing the Public Order (Preservation) Act, was passed by the Parliament.
It was criticized by a number of civil society groups as it "introduces wide-reaching police powers, including to potentially deploy lethal force and to stop communications, not just during terrorist attacks, but also during peaceful protests."
