Goh Meng Seng, a veteran politician who began his political career from 2001 when he joined WP[1], is the principal consultant of market research and consultancy company Whiz Research and Consultancy which is involved in market research, public relations consultancy as well as country risk assessment. He is currently the secretary-general of People's Power Party (PPP). He declared before the GE2020 that he would be contesting in elections for last time in GE2020.[2]
Previously, it was announced in Jun 2023 that PPP was joining hands with Peoples Voice (PV), the Reform Party (RP), and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to form an alliance called People’s Alliance (PAR).[3] By 22 Feb 2025, Goh Meng Seng announced in a Facebook post that his party has withdrawn from the four-party alliance, citing "irreconcilable strategic differences for GE2025" as the reason for the break-up.[4]
In 2019, after the High Court found WP's MPs for Aljunied GRC, Pritam Singh, Sylvia Lim and Low Thia Khiang liable for damages against Aljunied-Hougang Town Council (AHTC) and the Pasir Ris-Punggol Town Council (PRPTC), he declared in a FB post “I cannot support’ WP’s incompetency and mismanagement in the whole TC saga. All politics boils down to one simple aim, good governance for our country, not just our TC. Good Governance needs both competency as well as proper checks and balances. Both are lacking in WP.” [5]
In FB post dated 2 March 2025, he dropped the idea of contesting Tampines GRC and switched to Nee Soon GRC instead. When he declared that his team was running on a pro-family platform, emphasising that he would not allow the “LGBTQ agenda” to detract from the importance of growing Singapore’s “core population,” he was roundly criticized for not focusing on more pressing matters like cost of living and being divisive for his anti-LGBTQ stance.[6]

Career
Goh Meng Seng has had a varied political journey throughout the years:
- GE2006 contested Aljunied GRC as part of WP
- GE2011 contested Tampines GRC as part of NSP team
- in May 2015, announced that he was setting up the People's Power Party (PPP) with himself as secretary-general, prompted by Lee Kuan Yew's death that year
- GE2015 contested Chua Chu Kang GRC with his PPP team
- GE2020 contested the MacPherson SMC against PAP's Tin Pei Ling
- secured enough votes to get his election deposit back every time he contested
- a candidate will not lose his deposit if he secures at least 12.5% of votes
Goh left the Workers' Party (WP) in 2006 after the election due to "some Internet postings which had tarnished the WP's reputation" despite being a member of the central executive committee (CEC)[7] and a member of the "A team" of the Workers' Party. He Then joined the National Solidarity Party (NSP) and became its secretary-general. Subsequently, he left NSP after the 2011 election.
He also made a number of other controversial comments online, one of which was suggesting in his blog that the NSP exact "revenge" on the WP by contesting the Hougang SMC, after a by-election was triggered due to Yaw Shin Leong's party sacking.[8]
During the Covid-19 pandemic, he was known for his anti-vaccine stance and was twice issued POFMA corrections:
- In December 2021, POFMA correction was issued to him for making misleading claims in a FB video that HIV and COVID-19, two viruses from unrelated families could recombine and for discouraging people from taking the COVID-19 vaccine[9]
- 14 October 2022, he was issued a POFMA correction for sharing an article from the Thailand Medical News that claimed that "increased disease severity of COVID-19 is becoming a common occurrence" due to the SARS-CoV-2 XBB Recombinant Variant and that "mortuaries, funeral parlours, and crematoria are facing a ‘pile up’ in cases."[10]
