Lim Wee Kiak (PBM) (Chinese: 林伟杰; pinyin: Lín Wěijié; born 27 December 1968) is a Singaporean politician and ophthalmologist. A member of the ruling People's Action Party (PAP), Lim has represented the Canberra ward in Sembawang Group Representation Constituency (GRC) from 2006 to 2011 and 2015 to the present. From 2011 to 2015, he was the MP for Nee Soon GRC.

Early Life and Education
Lim grew up in Singapore, attending Sembawang School, The Chinese High School, and Hwa Chong Junior College. He went on to study at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, where he earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in 1992.
After completing his education, Lim worked as a medical officer at the Ministry of Health from 1992 to 1994. Following his time in the Ministry, he served as a medical officer in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), where he later signed on as a regular officer.
Lim pursued postgraduate studies in ophthalmology, completing a Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology at the National University of Singapore. He also obtained two specialist qualifications in ophthalmology from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. In 2003, Lim furthered his expertise with a year-long clinical and research fellowship in ocular immunology and inflammation at the National Eye Institute in the United States.
Career
Medical career
Lim is a co-founder and the group vice chairman of the Eagle Eye Centre, an established provider of specialized eye care services. Before his work at Eagle Eye Centre, he was a consultant and sub-specialist in ocular immunology and inflammation at the Singapore National Eye Centre.
He also held the position of Deputy Director at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute from 2007 to 2009 and served as a visiting consultant at the Singapore National Eye Centre from 2006 to 2017 and Tan Tock Seng Hospital from 2004 to 2019.
A specialist in eye care since 1998, Lim is known for treating common ophthalmological conditions such as cataracts and myopia, as well as more specialized cases involving ocular inflammation. He operates clinics at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Mount Alvernia Hospital, Parkway East Hospital, and Royal Square Novena.
Military Service
Between 1995 and 2003, Lim served as a medical officer in the Singapore Armed Forces, eventually rising to the rank of Major. During this period, he was also part of the Singapore medical team deployed to the United Nations Hospital in East Timor.
Political career
2006 General Election
Lim entered politics in the 2006 general election, contesting as part of a six-member PAP team for the Sembawang GRC, which was led by Khaw Boon Wan, then Minister for Health. The PAP team secured over 76% of the vote, and Lim was appointed to the Public Accounts Committee and as Chairman of the Transport Government Parliamentary Committee.
2011 General Election
Lim contested in the 2011 election as part of a five-member PAP team for the Nee Soon GRC, under the leadership of K. Shanmugam, then Minister for Law. The PAP team won with more than 58% of the vote. Lim was later appointed to the Public Petitions Committee and became a member of the Finance and Trade & Industry Government Parliamentary Committee. He also served as Chairman of the Defence and Foreign Affairs Government Parliamentary Committee.
In a 2011 interview, Lim made a controversial comment about the high salaries of Singapore’s ministers, arguing that it was necessary to ensure they maintained dignity in conversations with CEOs. His remarks led to some public backlash, but Lim clarified his position and eventually issued an apology, stating that his words had been misinterpreted.
2015 General Election
In 2015, Lim’s Canberra ward was once again part of the Sembawang GRC. He joined a five-member PAP team, led by Khaw Boon Wan, which garnered over 72% of the vote. Following the election, Lim was appointed to the Public Accounts Committee and became Chair of the Culture, Community, and Youth Government Parliamentary Committee.
2020 General Election
In the 2020 general election, Lim successfully retained his seat in Sembawang GRC as part of a five-member PAP team led by Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education. The PAP team won with 67.29% of the popular vote, defeating the National Solidarity Party.
Personal life
Lim is married to Lee Ai Ling, the managing director of Eagle Eye Centre. They have three children together.
