Old people collect cardboard as 'exercise'

  • Jul 2015 - Youth Corp members highlighted the plight of some cardboard collectors in Singapore
    • as Minister of Social and Family Development, he commented that "Some prefer to earn extra monies, treat it as a form of exercise and activity rather than being cooped up at home."[3]
    • roundly criticised by public for being out-of-touch and putting a spin on the lives of the elderly aunties and uncles who pick cardboards for a living and that his remarks were insensitive and amounted to whitewashing a sad situation.
