- when interviewed in 2015, she revealed she had 12 years of grassroots experience, beginning in Bukit Panjang.[4]

- graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Arts degree

Controversies
- after eight years as an MP, Cheng Li Hui resigned 17 July 2023 after Lee Hsien Loong revealed that she had been having an affair with Speaker of Parliament and fellow PAP MP Tan Chuan-Jin since at least 2020
- despite being spoken to and counseled, most recently in February 2023, both she and Tan Chuan-Jin went on with their "inappropriate relationship".
- both tendered their resignation on the same day. However, the brevity of her resignation letter was a sharp contrast to Tan Chuan-Jin's 2-page letter.[5]
