Mohd Maliki Bin Osman
Mohamad Maliki bin Osman (Jawi: مالكي عثمان; born 19 July 1965) is a Singaporean politician from the ruling People's Action Party (PAP). Has been a Parliament member since 2011, representing the Siglap division of East Coast GRC. He has been the Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, the Second Minister for Education, and the Second Minister for Foreign Affairs since 2020.

Before entering politics, Maliki had a distinguished academic career. He was an assistant professor at the National University of Singapore's Department of Social Work and Psychology from 1998 to 2004.
Education
Maliki received his early education from Duchess Primary School, Dunearn Secondary Technical School, and First Toa Payoh Secondary School. He holds multiple degrees from the National University of Singapore (NUS): a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree with honors, and a Master of Social Sciences degree. He later earned a PhD in social work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1998.
Academic career
Maliki served as an assistant professor in NUS's Department of Social Work and Psychology from 1998 to 2004. He also served as a teaching assistant and later a Senior Tutor in the same department.
Political career
Maliki secured his parliamentary seat for the first time in 2001. Four years later, he became Parliamentary Secretary for Health (2004-2005) and Community Development, Youth and Sports (2004–2006). Subsequently, he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for National Development (2005–2010).[1]
Maliki was appointed as Senior Parliamentary Secretary for National Development in 2010. He later served as Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Defence and Mayor of the South East District after the 2011 election. He was promoted to Minister of State for Defence and National Development in 2013.
Maliki continued to hold several key ministerial positions. After the 2015 election, he was assigned as Senior Minister of State for Defence and Foreign Affairs. Five years later, after the vote, he was elevated to Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Education, and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs.
After the 2020 Singapore general election, Maliki was appointed Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Education, and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs125. At MOE, Dr. Maliki supervises ITE and Polytechnic Education and Chairs the Uplifting Pupils in Life and Inspiring Families Taskforce (UPLIFT) and the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee (MLLPC)1. At MFA, Dr. Maliki boosts Singapore's interests overseas in numerous regions, including ASEAN, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East.[2]
Other roles
Besides his ministerial roles, he serves as President of the Singapore Armed Forces Reservist Association (SAFRA) and Co-Chairman of the Advisory Council on Community Relations in Defence or ACCORD in MINDEF. As Mayor of the South East District, he championed interfaith engagement through forums and facilitated relations between people, the public, and the private sectors in developing social programs. He also becomes an Advisor to the Centre for Promoting Alternatives to Violence (PAVe) and the East Coast GRCs' Grassroots Organisations.
