Usha Ranee Chandradas (born in 1980) is a Singaporean publisher, educator, tax advisor, and Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP). She co-founded Plural Art Mag, an online platform dedicated to Southeast Asian art, in 2016.

Chandradas holds multiple qualifications, including master's degrees in Asian Art Histories and Professional Accounting. She is a Chartered Accountant of Singapore (non-practicing), an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore, and an Accredited Tax Specialist in Income Tax. Her professional experience includes serving as a partner in the Financial Services Department of Allen & Gledhill LLP and as a legal officer at the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore.[1]

In July 2024, Chandradas was appointed as an NMP, representing the arts community.

Beyond her parliamentary duties, she serves on several boards, including those of two listed companies, in the capacity of independent director. She also sits on the board of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore. Chandradas actively supports community initiatives with Pro Bono SG, the Singapore Red Cross, and the Singapore Medical Association Charity Fund.

Support for an improved arts education

Usha is committed to improving arts education in Singapore's schools. She suggested using the arts in teaching other school subjects, as the arts should not be separated from core subjects such as geography and science, and using labels in art in public spaces so passers-by will be familiar with the works.

Regarding the use of the arts in teaching, she gave the example of Singaporean artist Robert Zhao, whose works teach important lessons about the evolution of Singapore and how modern urban design can influence the natural world.[2]
