Support for an improved arts education
Usha is committed to improving arts education in Singapore's schools. She suggested using the arts in teaching other school subjects, as the arts should not be separated from core subjects such as geography and science, and using labels in art in public spaces so passers-by will be familiar with the works.
Regarding the use of the arts in teaching, she gave the example of Singaporean artist Robert Zhao, whose works teach important lessons about the evolution of Singapore and how modern urban design can influence the natural world.[2]
